Captain Bart had finally gotten the map to find the Island of Gold.
It was talked about by many, but no-one knew where it was. He
had been planning on this day since he was a little pirate. Now
that he had his own ship and a couple crew to help him out he
could be rich, rich, rich!

One eyed Jack and Slim Jim were as bad as they come and
perfect for this adventure. They were strong enough to carry the
gold and dumb enough to do as they were told.
Bart had it all figured out. He knew how to get in and
how to get out of the circle of dangerous rocks that went all
around the island except in that one little spot. He knew how
much gold he could put on the ship and still make it out alive. He
was the smart one. That’s why he was the captain.

One eyed Jack and Slim Jim were told that they could have as
much gold as they could put in their pockets. They figured they
should get bigger pants so they would get more gold.

When the ship got to the rocks around the island Captain Bart
found the secret way through them and anchored the ship as
close to the shore as he could. One Eye and Slim took the
rowboat to shore with Bart and they went right to where all the
gold was.

After three trips back and forth they had put in all the gold that
Bart had figured the ship could hold without sinking. They would
leave in the morning and be rich when they got home.

That night, while Bart was sleeping, the other two snuck out with
the rowboat and brought back one more load of gold that they
hid in a barrel at the back of the ship.

In the morning they sailed for the narrow secret route to get
through the rocks. Bart thought something was wrong, but he
had figured everything out. Nothing was wrong with his plan.
Just as he made the last turn for the open ocean the bottom of
the ship hit the rocks and they began to sink.

The Captain put the rowboat into the water and told One Eyed
Jim and Slim Jim to get into the boat. They both ran to the barrel
and filled their pockets as full of gold as they could. All the while
the ship was sinking and Bart was waiting for them in the boat.
When the two greedy sailors finally tried to swim to the rowboat
their pockets were so heavy that they sank to the bottom.
And Captain Bart is still on the Island of Gold to this day because
he has the only map to get there.
